A mononuclear Ni(ii) complex: a field induced single-molecule magnet showing two slow relaxation processes.
The mononuclear complex [Ni(pydc)(pydm)]·H2O, pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato-2,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)pyridine nickel(ii) monohydrate, features a highly axially compressed pseudo-octahedral chromophore with significant rhombic contribution that is responsible for the sizable magnetic anisotropy of the Ni(ii) ion, D/hc≈-14 cm(-1). This complex displays superparamagnetic behaviour in an applied external...

The single ion magnetic properties of Co(ii) are affected by the details of the coordination geometry of the ion. Here we show that a geometry close to trigonal prismatic which arises when the ligand 6,6'-((1Z)-((piperazine-1,4-diylbis(propane-3,1-diyl))bis(azanylylidene))bis(methanylylidene))bis(2-methoxyphenol) coordinates to Co(ii) does indeed lead to enhanced single-ion behaviour as has pre...
متن کاملHeterotrimetallic 3d-4d-4f decanuclear metal-capped square showing single-molecule magnet behavior.
The synthesis, the structural characterization and the magnetic properties of a heterotrimetallic decanuclear square, [(Mo(CN)(8))(2)(CuLTb)(4))](4+), noted MoCuTb, are described. This supramolecular compound, viewed as the first example of a metal-capped square, behaves as a single molecule magnet with a magnetic anisotropic barrier energy of U(eff) = 13.40 cm(-1) (19.25 K).
متن کاملSlow magnetic relaxation in a trigonal prismatic uranium(III) complex.
Results of ac magnetic susceptibility measurements performed on the trigonal prismatic complex U(Ph(2)BPz(2))(3) demonstrate the presence of slow magnetic relaxation under zero applied dc field. Analysis of both the temperature and frequency dependence of the ac susceptibility indicate a temperature regime (T > approximately 3 K) where Arrhenius behavior dominates the relaxation processes, lead...
متن کاملCoordination-perturbed single-molecule magnet behaviour of mononuclear dysprosium complexes.
By changing the ratio of reactants, two mononuclear Dy complexes, [Dy(phen)(acac)(3)] (1) and [Dy(phen)(2)(NO(3))(2)(acac)]·H(2)O (2) have been synthesized and structurally characterized. In 1, a Dy atom bearing square-antiprism coordination geometry exhibits SMM behaviour, while compound 2 with a bicapped-square-antiprism geometry does not show such SMM properties. The different magnetic behav...
